I tugged on the vial. “What’s this?”

Justin pulled back and zipped his bomber jacket so fast his shirt got jammed.

“Justin?”

“I’ll tell you later, where it’s more private.”

“But I want to know now.”

“Not here.”

“I won’t come see you if you don’t tell me.”

Justin sat down again. He seemed nervous, maybe even irritated with me, but I had a right to know since he had just kissed me.

“It’s blood.”

“What is?”

“In the vial, it’s blood. I have a vial of blood around my neck because I’m a three-hundred-year-old werewolf.”
